The Place for Pregame Tailgating
If you're looking for something to do before a Colts game and don't want to spend it in a parking lot, I recommend hitting Champions. They have an outstanding pregame buffet, great drink specials and a services staff that is more than happy to talk football with you while taking your order. This is a fun place to convene with fellow fans and is a short, short walk from the Dome.

Non-existent service
My party of 4 went to Champions/Downtown Marriott about 11:15 p.m. after Jazz Fest 2008. The restaurant was not busy...we could see empty tables everywhere. Yet it took almost 10 minutes to get a seat because the hostess apparently thought it more important to stop cleaning our table to talk at length to friends who stopped by. Once at the table we waited another 10 minutes for a server to greet us, though the servers' station was across the aisle from our table. A server asked if we needed menus. Of course! He did not bring water or offer to take drink orders. Several minutes later we walked out. I tried to explain our situation to the hostess as I left. Guess what. She was too busy talking to yet another friend and could only say, "I'm so sorry." Yeah, right. My party walked over to the Hyatt and were treated like royalty at their bar. This "Champions" restaurant/bar is now "Losers" as far as I'm concerned.

Colts friendly
Champions is a great place to watch a Colts game or any other major sport. Staff are great and really attentive, their food menu is diverse and they have a great selection of drinks. The Marriott does a great job taking care of guests and visitors. During the playoffs and Super Bowl last year, the Marriott set-up couches in the lobby and overflow conference rooms for Colts fans. I would highly recommend the Marriott if you're dining before, during or after a game or if you're an out-of-town visitor looking for a great place to stay.

Lunch at Champions
A nostalgic, sports atmosphere surrounds this downtown bar and grill. Perfect for the casual business lunch or a quick bite before a game or downtown event, Champions offers a variety of sandwiches, salads and other moderately priced foods. I had the BBQ chicken wrap and would definitely recommend it! Seems like a good place to watch a game, too, particularly if you're staying in the Marriott.
